“When my family couldn't afford WAEC and JAMB fees simultaneously, MOSP stepped in. Today, with 9 distinctions and 324 in UTME, I am studying Medicine at the University of Ibadan.”
Because potential deserves opportunity.
The Michael Oyelakin Scholarship Program (MOSP) supports academically promising Nigerian students facing financial barriers at key stages of their journey to higher education. Through progressive examination sponsorship and a selective university scholarship, MOSP helps eligible students move forward as they meet each academic milestone.

At the Michael Oyelakin Scholarship Program, we believe that academic potential should not be limited by financial circumstances. Across Nigeria, capable and determined students face obstacles in their pursuit of higher education: not because they lack ambition or ability, but because the costs of examinations and university entry can place opportunities beyond their reach.
MOSP exists to help close this gap. Our approach recognizes that the journey to higher education involves successive milestones, each with its own requirements and costs. We provide targeted sponsorship and continued support to eligible beneficiaries who demonstrate academic progress.
Our selection philosophy combines academic merit, demonstrated financial need, personal commitment, and responsible stewardship. We want educational opportunity to inspire excellence, encourage responsibility, and equip students to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Supporting students progressively as they meet each academic milestone from senior secondary school to university admission.
Selected academically promising SS3 students facing financial hardship receive WAEC or NECO examination sponsorship. Beneficiaries who achieve qualifying results are automatically considered for JAMB sponsorship in the following examination cycle.
Students with qualifying WAEC/NECO results may also apply directly for JAMB sponsorship without having received earlier MOSP support. All MOSP-sponsored JAMB candidates who meet the required cutoffs for their chosen institution and course receive support for the applicable Post-UTME screening.
One outstanding eligible student from the progressing MOSP cohort: including beneficiaries who joined directly at the JAMB stage: is selected for undergraduate scholarship support after securing admission to a recognized federal or state university in Nigeria. Private universities are not eligible.
Progression Policy: Progression depends on meeting the relevant academic requirements. Entry into MOSP does not guarantee the final university scholarship.
MOSP welcomes academically promising students who face financial barriers to education. Eligible candidates may begin with WAEC/NECO sponsorship or join directly at the JAMB stage with qualifying examination results. Continuing beneficiaries progress according to their academic performance and the requirements of the next stage.
WAEC/NECO applicants should demonstrate strong school performance. Direct JAMB applicants must hold qualifying WAEC/NECO results relevant to their intended course of study.
Eligible SS3 students may apply for WAEC/NECO sponsorship. Applicants who already have qualifying WAEC/NECO results may apply directly for JAMB sponsorship.
Applicants must demonstrate financial circumstances that make examination or university-entry expenses difficult to meet. Supporting evidence may be requested.
Applicants provide a recommendation from their school principal or another appropriate academic authority confirming academic standing, character, and commitment.
Applicants submit one essay of no more than 350 words describing their educational aspirations, financial challenges, and how MOSP support would help them progress.
MOSP-sponsored WAEC/NECO beneficiaries with qualifying results are automatically considered for JAMB sponsorship. MOSP-sponsored JAMB candidates meeting their intended institution and course cutoffs receive Post-UTME support. One outstanding eligible progressing beneficiary may receive the university scholarship at a federal or state university.
A transparent process recognizing academic potential, financial need, and continued progress.
Complete the application form, select WAEC/NECO or direct JAMB entry, and upload the required academic records, recommendation, financial-need information, and a personal statement of no more than 350 words.
Applications are reviewed against the requirements of the selected entry stage, including academic performance, qualifying examination results, and demonstrated financial need.
Eligible candidates are shortlisted for verification of academic records and financial circumstances. Additional documents or interviews may be requested where necessary.
Selected candidates receive sponsorship for their approved entry stage. Qualifying WAEC/NECO beneficiaries are considered for JAMB support; MOSP-sponsored JAMB candidates who meet applicable course and institution cutoffs receive Post-UTME support. One outstanding eligible beneficiary from the progressing cohort is selected for the federal/state university scholarship.
